AUTOCAD PROJECTS - DRAW AND LEARN

These drawing projects are for you to practice using AutoCAD and apply the drawing tools and processes.  For each project:

  1. Watch the Video Tutorial for the project and observe the application of the AutoCAD drawing tools and processes used for drawing the object.
  2. Download the Drawing File or the Project Instruction Sheet to your computer.  Save the file in folder with your AutoCAD drawings.
  3. Using AutoCAD on your computer, open the drawing file, Template File or start a new drawing and complete the project yourself.  Review the video as needed while you draw.  If you don't have AutoCAD installed on your computer, get FREE AUTOCAD SOFTWARE from AutoDESK.

NOTE:  When using AutoCAD, there are many ways to draw any given object.  These projects demonstrate one way to compete the drawing, but are certainly not the only way to accomplish the outcome.  In each project, the objective is to demonstrate the use of AutoCAD drawing tools as effeciently as possible and the application of AutoCAD Drawing Aides for a high level of precision.

Project 2.1 - Using ZOOM and PAN


 Objective:  Connect the numbers in the dots presented in the drawing to create an object. Use ZOOM and PAN transparently with your line command.


In this Project, you will practice using:

Project 3.1 - Setting up a Basic Template


Objective:  Download a basic template drawing file. Open the file, edit the settings and layout and save it as your own custom template for starting AutoCAD drawings.
In this Project, you will practice using:
  • File Type .dwt for AutoCAD Template Files
  • File Type .dwg for AutoCAD Drawing Files
  • SAVE AS to save a drawing file as a new template
 

Project 5.1 - Using Absolute Coordinate Entry


Objective: Draw this object in AutoCAD by entering the Absolute Coordinate values of the endpoints of each line.  Demonstrate understaning of the Cartesian Coordinate system as applied in AutoCAD.
In this Project, you will practice using:
  • Absolute Coordinate Entry
  • Orgin
  • Ordered Pairs (X,Y)
 

Project 5.2 - Using Relative Polar Coordinate Entry


Objective: Draw this object in AutoCAD by entering the Relative Polar Coordinates for the endpoints of each line.  Demonstate understanding of Relative Polar Coordinate entry in AutoCAD.
In this Project, you will practice using:
  • Relative Polar Coordinate Entry
  • Polar Angles
  • Relative Location Symbol @
  Project 6.1 - End Plate

Objective: Apply drawing tools of Direct Distance Entry, Ortho, and Polar Tracking to complete drawing in AutoCAD

In this Project, you will practice using:
  • Direct Distance Entry
  • Ortho
  • Polar Tracking
Project 6.2 - Filter Plate

Objective:  Use Direct Distance Entry and Polar Tracking to accurately draw this object. Use Temporary Tracking Points and TRACKING (tk) to accurately locate holes in the drawing.

In this Project, you will practice using:
  • Direct Distance Entry
  • Polar Tracking
  • Object Snap Tracking
  • Temporary Tracking Points
  • TRACKING Command, Alias tk
 

Project 7.1 - Stop Link


Objective:  Apply drawing tools of Direct Distance Entry, Ortho, OSNAP Tracking and FILLET to complete this drawing in AutoCAD.

In this Project, you will practice using:

  Project 7.2 - Lock Washer
Objective:  Draw this object in AutoCAD by applying the RECTANGLE, TRIM AND FILLET Commands.  Accurately draw the object using a common center point for construction.

In this Project, you will practice using:

Project 8.1 - Locator Plate

Objective:  Draw this object in AutoCAD by applying the RECTANGLE, COPY and CHAMFER commands.

In this Project, you will practice using:
